Rebecca Warren, an undergraduate student in the Anthropology Department at UKC,
has recently arrived in the town of Puerto Maldonado in Amazonian Peru, where she
will spend a year as a volunteer with the Tambopata
Reserve Society (TReeS). TReeS is a small non-governmental organisation that supports
local initiatives relevant to biodiversity conservation and sustainable development
in the Tambopata region of Madre de Dios State in southeast
Peru. Rebecca has been awarded a grant through the Overseas Training Programme of
Voluntary Service Overseas to assist in building the institutional base of TReeS
and in facilitating support for local initiatives.
